Blackberry launched their new android phone this year which is well optimized and well updated for 2017. This is a phone for those people who really want a keyboard or for those people who really want a Blackberry. Blackberry has tried all kinds of interesting stuff with their hardware in the recent years like the slide out keyboard with the Blackberry Priv and a square Blackberry Passport. This year they bring it back to the classic old days of Blackberry with the 1620x1080 display and that full QWERTY keyboard and a all metal build. The hardware of this phone is definitely top notch, however the phone is not water resistant but it definitely can take drops.

The lock screen button is oddly placed on the left side of the phone with the volume keys on the right side and under the volume keys is the so called convenience button which can be mapped to and application or can be set to do a certain action. Even a long press of the letter buttons on the keyboard can launch certain apps that match with the initials of the applications. Now, Blackberry has done a wonderful thing by placing the fingerprint scanner under the space bar key in the keyboard which looks pretty awesome rather than placing it at the back of the phone. They classic keyboard has more up its sleeves. The whole keyboard acts as a scroll pad which helps in scrolling through webpages without touching the screen.

The phone comes with android Nougat out of the box. The UI in this phone has also been tweaked a bit with the classic Blackberry feel when you go to the recent apps window which shows you blocks of recently used applications rather than cards as you see in stock android. The KEYOne also comes with Blackberry Hub as the Priv which gathers all your notifications and information and displays them all in one place. And then there's the Blackberry messenger which will remain even if you don't use it.

The KEYOne also houses the same camera sensor as the Google Pixel and the Pixel XL. And it takes beautiful crispy pictures and record UHD videos at 30fps. Unfortunately there is no support for RAW image capture but you can still do it with some 3rd party applications.

Coming to the specs, the KEYOne has a 3GB ram and 32GB onboard memory. There is even a memory card slot which can be extended upto 256GB. The battery under the hood is a 3505 mah  non-removeable lithium polymer battery which has a pretty good standby time with the software optimization done by Blackberry.

Overall the Blackberry KEYOne is a beautiful piece of hardware and software by Blackberry.
